Hey!!! Thanks for stopping by to learn a bit more about me! I am scientifically trained with two degrees (B.S. & M.Sc) in the marine sciences, ocean educator, and marine conservationist. I have dedicated my life to the protection, conservation, and sustainability of our oceans and will continue to challenge our legislation, society, and our parasitic relationship with our ocean to SEA CHANGE.
I took the plunge into graduate school in 2011 to follow my dreams of being a scientific mermaid researching corals and how to restore genetic diversity via restoration and protection. Iโve worked with coral husbandry, restoration, coral spawning, and also with sea turtles, sedimentation, sharks & rays, and reef fish.
While spending countless hours underwater scientific diving up close and personal with reef life, I was FLOORED by the amount of garbage on our reefs. Beer cans, Cheetos bags, solo cups, plastic bags, Band-Aids, fishing gear, etc. Plastics tangled through reef inspired me to dedicate my research towards investigating the effects of marine debris on marine organisms and ecosystems and I havenโt turned back since. I have been very vocal with local, county, and state legislatures on single-use plastics, and marine-minded legislation. I regularly clean up on the beach or on the reef as much as I can.
Currently, I work mainly with sustainability consulting (private, small business, corporate), environmental education, freelance content creation, affiliate marketing, and dog-entertaining. Lastly, I also help regular humans through my social networks with their sustainability efforts and help them become more ocean-minded through education, positivity, tangible action, and ocean empowerment.
